🚗 Start the Day with a smile – Volunteer in the RSES Car Rider Line! ☀️
We’re looking for enthusiastic parent volunteers to help greet our students each morning by opening car doors during arrival.
🗓️ Commit to one weekday morning.
⏰ 7:20 am – 8:05 am
☔️ Rain or Shine
What to Expect:
Each morning, you’ll help open car doors, greet students with a smile, and kick off their school day on a positive note. For many children, you’re the very first face they see on campus—and a cheerful “Good morning!” can make a huge difference.
Bring your coffee, enjoy some fresh air, and spend a few minutes making a positive impact on our students before your day begins.
Why We do car rider:
Up until 2022, Rock Springs Elementary Teachers were responsible for helping with welcoming students each morning in the car rider line. While it was a great way for them to start their day by greeting their students each morning as they got out of their car, as a PTO, we wanted to give that time back to the teachers for them to prepare for their day and welcome students to their classrooms! The teachers and administrators of Rock Springs Elementary School love it and the students benefit too by having a consistent routine when they get to school each morning!
FAQs
What is car rider line and what would I be doing?
6 parents and 1 school admin (typically Mr. Palmer or Ms Rowe) stand along the front circle and open doors for a smooth morning drop off line. Occasionally a student is upset when getting out of the car, they can be walked into the entrance of the school where staff is standing to help students to class. If a student is having a harder time it is helpful for the car to pull up to be helped, that way the line can continue moving.
What if I can’t commit to every week?
That’s okay! Submit your interest anyway, and we’ll add you to our substitute volunteer list. It’s a great way to help when you can, filling in when one of our regular volunteers is unavailable. Sign up here and select SUBSTITUTE LIST as your choice instead of a specific day of the week!
What if something comes up and I can’t make be there?
Whether it is a sick kid, last minute work commitment, or a vacation you forgot about when you signed up initially, we understand scheduling conflicts can happen. If you cannot be there for whatever reason, please let the car rider chair (you will be given contact info when signing up) as soon as possible and a substitute will be found for you.
What happens if there is a delayed start?
In the event of a 1 hour delay, car rider is 8:20 am to 9:05 am.
In the event of a 2 hour delay, car rider is 9:20 am to 10:05 am.
What about weather changes?
Bring your hand warmers and hot coffee to stay cozy. Feel free to bring an umbrella but RSES provides large umbrellas to use during car rider
